My first attempt at a studio album after the MANICS break-up in Summer 2004 with the late Leo Goff, III at the helm.

Leo would go on to much success as part of the recording side of the industry working with Yo Gotti (among others--of course) after helping me record what we hoped would become an album eventually. It was his first project after the MANICS' 'Here Lately' 4-song E.P. we cut in one marathon 12-hour session at Ardent Studios (where we also met Big Star drummer Jody Stephens---hell yeah). Though my band did not survive the process---I found a new friend who I really learned some cool stuff from and helped me try to find that sound I was searching for. He was cool---a chill, really fuckin' sharp Dude who appreciated my offbeat sense of humour and made the process pretty painless for a frantic guy on the edge making this (haha).

I wished we could have worked together again. I was just lucky to know him for a little bit of time and work with him (practically for free)---before everyone else saw how awesome he was and then---'off ya go' into the California sunset. The last time I talked to him that I can remember was after I gave him a copy of 'Bloodletting Sessions'---the album I recorded with some friends at a home studio back in the holler of North MS (haha) in spring 2006. He wrote back to me---"Why didn't you sing like THAT when we were in the studio?'---hahahha. That and I think something about how he would've recorded it better probably---haha. I think Evan did a fine job---just the same. It's the 20th anniversary of THAT album I'll be blabbing about later this year.

I write because I can remember?
